6 Hours in Paris...and my 1st Rite of Passage

So I am finally in Amman. SUCH A LONG TRIP! But we flew business class the whole way which was fantastic. We arrived in paris at about 6:30 am and since our next flight wasn't until 4:45 we decided to go on a short tour of paris - at least go see the eiffel tower. So we took off on a bus to the Arch de Triumph. being a little groggy from or trip we couldn't figure out how to get across the circle to get up & close to the arch so we did a death run across the street and after a few narrow misses got close. Then we discovered the underground passage ways across the street. Next we headed to the Eiffle Tower - gotta say really not impressed - perhaps you have to see it in the romance of a paris evening but we snapped our pics and moved on. Next we headed to the Louvre for our 30 min tour (takes 3 full days to see the whole thing) - we saw the mona lisa (smaller than i thought), the venus de milo and a headless statue of victory. Also got some great pics of the glass pyramid thing and walked around outside. Finally we headed to Notre Dame (again much smaller than i thought and also REALLY dirty) didn't get to go in bc the lines were really long but we walked around the whole thing & i got some close ups of a couple gargoyles.
Back at de Gaulle airport - we got on our flight to jordan and finally arrived here around 10:45 at night. And of COURSE they lost my luggage - just one piece - the one w/ ALL my clothes. it is apparently still in paris and should arrive tomorrow but i'm not counting on it. my first rite of passage and hopefully it will end well!
the verdict in sadaam's trial comes out tomorrow so baghdad airport is temporarily (we hope) closed so for now we are not sure when we will actually get there but we are hopeful that our monday am flight will still happen.
sorry for all the typos & limited details but i am exhausted. it is about 2 am here and i have to get up for breakfast meetings and security briefings early. i miss you all madly!! but don't worry! i'm happy, safe and feel REALLY secure! will try to get to some personal emails asap but just wanted you all to know i'm here!

Fabulous to know you are there safe and it was so splendid to get your text message and then to hear your VOICE! Funny thing, today's Psalm 42 says: "I will remember you From the land of the Jordan." Stay safe dearest.
Love hugs, Mom, Jen and Molly!

Iam Who Iam said...

Yeah!

Sleeping well I hope, or at least before you read this.

Do NOT tell us if the security guys are Hunks... just that they are secure!
